Snow in Bham march 1, 2009

We woke up to snow pouring from the sky on Sunday! I was so beautiful and came down strong for about two hours. Micah loved playing in it and throwing snowballs.

MS will always be home at heart...

Our friends Drew and Megan Mattox sent Micah this shirt when we had Sam. They live in Portland, OR and they have a historical district with Mississippi Ave. in it. Thanks Drew and Megan for the cute shirt!
He loves to be just like Daddy. Even matching shoes.

more randoms...

Micah came home from Granpop's (my dad) yesterday with a new injury. They are having way too much fun without us! He LOVES my dad. More regressing. This really is just a joke. He doesn't take a paci anymore and will gladly hand it over when we ask. It is just funny when he wants to play with Sam's things.

HELLO!

Sam at two weeks old. He is wide open when he is awake.

Playing doctor/nurse. He goes around giving people/dogs shots. I am training him young!

More fun at the Malouf house

Happy Valentine's Day!
Giving Sam his pacifier.

Micah is really testing the waters these days. He climbs on the coffee table, tries to drink Sam's bottles and suck his pacis. Sometimes you have to choose your battles, right? I think he won this one.

Note the paci. Micah hasn't taken one since he was 9 months old.

Typical Micah with a ball in one hand and milk in the other.

Baby Sam

Samuel Ellis Malouf was born yesterday (Friday) February 6 at 1:29 PM. He was 6lbs 5oz and 19 and 1/2 in. We got to the hospital Thursday night around 8pm b/c I was having contractions and the Dr. told me to just come in. WE were so glad to already be at the hospital and because I was scheduled for an induction the next morning anyway, they would keep me whether I was in active labor or not. Turns out I wasn't. So, the next morning they induced me around 7:15. By 8:45 I was in some major pain with the contractions so they gave me the epidural. Finally at 1:00 we were ready to push. I took one practice push and the nurse said, whoa let me call Dr. Brown. She barely had time to put her gloves on and had me push with the next contraction. I pushed for literally 5 seconds and she said "okay, you can relax". Seconds later Sam was crying in my arms! We are soooo thankful for his health and all of your thoughts and prayers.
Sam...

Micah
EVERYONE so far has agreed that Sam looks just like Micah did at birth. The only difference is Sam has darker and more hair and his eyes are much darker.

One last update...

Well it looks like Sam will be holding out until this Friday, Feb. 6th. We have set an induction for 6:30 am. Dr. Brown says we should have a baby by lunchtime! Please pray for a healthy baby and safe delivery. We are packed and ready to go. Below is his room, just waiting on his arrival! It was a very last-minute nursery. The chair will be red, but the new cushions haven't come in yet. Hopefully I will have pics and good news with the next blog!
Horrible lighting.

A few of my favorite things!

Micah is absolutely obsessed with balls. He sleeps with his "bootball" every night. He can say tennis ball, little ball and big ball too. It all started on his first birthday and he has been crazy over them ever since. The other night I had him on the changing table. He pointed to my belly and said "ball", "Big ball!" Hilarious. He copies everything Trip does which is how he has learned to swing a bat, golf club, throw balls, etc. Below are some recent pics at the park doing what he does best.

We took him to the zoo last weekend. I think it was probably our last outing with Micah as an "only child". Aww, sorta sad. He loves animals and petting the zoo pets was his favorite. He also loved watching all the "birs"

Every night he asks for his "baa". He goes in his room and gets his towel then plays in the 'bubbles" until we make him get out. We let all the water run out and he lays down and says "nigh nigh" in the tub.

Narcissist?

Hi, I am Micah and I LOVE to watch yours truly on the video camera.

36 weeks (well almost!)

Pregnancy #2 is rapidly coming to a close, wow. I will be 36 weeks on Saturday. We finally got the crib and furniture in the nursery. I waslooking back at my journal from Micah's pregnancy and the nursery was done at 34 weeks. This time I didn't even have a crib at 34 weeks! We now at least have the necessities like diapers, wipes and sheets on the bed. We have two nurseries set up right next to each other upstairs. It is so surreal to see their rooms. Dr. Brown set an induction date of Monday Feb. 9, but we may be moving it to Feb. 5. I'll post more after next week's visit.

Thursday, January 1, 2009

It has been a while since I updated. I am now 34 weeks and still feeling pretty good. Just a little less sleep at night. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, Christmas and New year full of rest and family time. My how things have changed. Micah was sick the entire week before Christmas with RSV and an ear infection. His fever spiked to 105.5 one day! He was so lethargic and pitiful. Even though I work with sick kids every day it was very hard to be objective when it was Micah. Anyway, he is fine now and back to his old self. I just hope all those Christmas kisses he gave the twins didn't get them sick too!
I am still working 4 days a week and looking forward to some time off when baby Sam arrives. We still don't have a middle name. Trip thinks he doesn't need one. Not sure why we are having such trouble! Micah is nonstop all day unless he is asleep. I think I'm gonna have my hands full with him and a newborn!

A few extra Christmas pics

Chase and Ethan were so cute in their snowman pajamas. Micah would NOT participate in this photo session.

Christmas 2008

His first gift was this electric car from Buddy and Zay Zay
This is the best we could do!
Micah's favorite thing to do with the twins is give them kisses. They don't seem to mind!

His singing rocking horse.

Who knew his favorite gift would be a singing Christmas card? He also loves his new chair. Every day when we get home he points to it and runs to jump in.

Grandpop's Last Day of Work

After 37 years at the Power Company, my dad is retiring. Micah and I decided to pay him a visit on his last day 12/31/08
A preview of what he will probably be doing at home now!

Happy New Year

On New Year's Day we took Micah on his second hiking trip at Oak Mountain. The waterfall was cold but very pretty. Micah just tried to go swimming with the dogs the whole time.
Our attempt at a group photo...

He couldn't walk the last time we took him! He loved being able to roam around. Note the milk in hand. His new security blanket. All day long he says "milk" and "bite" and "Melmo"

He was ticked when we loaded him up to go home even though his hands were almost frozen and he was out of milk!

A few randoms

Dewey has taught him how to load these guns and he loves playing with them.
